Reconix Sponsors Thai Student Team at Global Cybersecurity Camp 2026 in Vietnam
Reconix had the opportunity to sponsor five Thai students attending Global Cybersecurity Camp (GCC) 2026 in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. The camp is an annual cybersecurity bootcamp organized by ten member countries to develop the next generation of security professionals.
What is Global Cybersecurity Camp?
Global Cybersecurity Camp is an international training program that rotates annually between ten member countries: Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam, India, Australia, Romania, and Thailand.
Each year, selected students from participating countries gather for a week of intensive workshops, collaborative projects, and knowledge sharing. The program is supported by industry leaders and academic institutions committed to strengthening the global security community.
This year, Vietnam hosted the event from March 1-6, 2026.
The Thai Delegation
Five Thai students were selected to represent Thailand at GCC 2026, joining over 50 participants from across the region. Attendees were divided into nine mixed-nationality groups to encourage cross-cultural collaboration and knowledge exchange.
Workshop Topics
This year's bootcamp covered a range of advanced security topics:
- Firmware Analysis — Reverse engineering and analyzing IoT device firmware
- Binary Hardening with Control-flow Enforcement Technology — Techniques for protecting binaries against exploitation
- Kernel Protection Bypass — Understanding and bypassing OS-level security mechanisms
- Hands-on Cybersecurity AI Workshop — Building automated agentic AI penetration testers
Group Project: Android Application Security
The group project focused on Android application security, split into two assignments.
Assignment 1: Vulnerability Analysis
Each team received five APK files, including both open-source and commercial applications. The task was to:
- Identify which applications were malicious
- Analyze vulnerabilities present in each application
- Develop proof-of-exploit demonstrations showing actual attack vectors
Assignment 2: Automated Security Scanner
Teams were also required to build an Android security application capable of:
- Scanning installed applications on the device
- Detecting newly installed applications in real-time
- Alerting users when suspicious applications are identified
Final Presentations
On the last day of the camp, each group presented their findings and solutions to the panel and all participants.
The variety of approaches was notable. Teams tackled the security scanner challenge differently:
- Cloud-based Scanner — Offloading analysis to remote servers for comprehensive scanning
- Hybrid Approach — Running fast local checks while waiting for cloud-based results
- LLM-powered Analysis — Integrating large language model APIs to assist with behavioral pattern detection
Supporting the Security Community
Reconix believes that investing in the next generation is investing in the future of cybersecurity in Thailand. Sponsoring the Thai student team at GCC 2026 is part of our commitment to developing world-class security talent in the region.
Congratulations to all five students who were selected to represent Thailand this year. We hope this experience serves as a strong foundation for their careers in cybersecurity.
